Faith Discipleship Ministries International (FAMI), a prominent non-profit organization based in Iganga, has officially commissioned a new skills training center aimed at empowering vulnerable youth in the region. The center, named the Busoga Institute for Education and Skills Development, is located in Busei, a suburb of Iganga.

The facility is designed to provide practical, sustainable livelihood skills to marginalized groups, including early school dropouts and child mothers. By equipping these youths with valuable skills, FAMI aims to foster economic independence and social inclusion within the community.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rev. Dr. Samson Basome, FAMI’s Executive Director, emphasized the organization’s strategic shift towards social enterprise as a sustainable development approach. “We are now moving in the direction of social enterprise to ensure that our initiatives are self-sustaining and impactful,” he stated. “This approach also promotes an inclusive community effort, encouraging us all to develop common solutions to shared challenges.”
The new center is expected to serve as a vital resource for vulnerable populations, offering them opportunities to acquire skills that can lead to improved livelihoods and community development. FAMI’s initiative reflects a broader commitment to grassroots empowerment and sustainable development in Iganga and beyond.
As the Busoga Institute for Education and Skills Development begins its operations, community leaders and residents express optimism that the center will contribute significantly to addressing youth unemployment and social vulnerabilities in the region.
