While gender-based violence (GBV) primarily affects women and girls in Uganda. According to the FAMI(2024) survey, some men in the Bulamagi sub-county are experiencing it, but they are suffering in silence due to cultural norms and a lack of supports for male survivors. During the dialogue meeting held at Buwasa Primary School in Bulamagi sub-county, Men claim that women mistreat them to the point where some have fled their homes, yet when they try to tell the authorities, they are denied assistance. The CDO of Bulamagi sub-county asked males to seek alternative means of reporting any sort of violence they encounter, and that they will be heard. It was suggested that FAMI collaborate with cultural and religious leaders to engage men, as well as train religious leaders to incorporate HIV/AIDS and GBV knowledge into their regular sermons.
The majority of men in Bulamagi sub-county are experiencing Gender Based Violence.
